BAGUIO Representative Mark Go has joined the opposition in the proposed provincial bus ban along EDSA.

“We are expecting another round of investigation for the resolution of the matter. This is not a trial and error process. We have to consider the costs, infrastructure, the convenience of our commuters and other economic and social implications,” Go said.

Albay Representative Joey Salceda has earlier asked the Supreme Court to stop the implementation of the bus ban which he tags is “anti-probinsiyano.”

Go said prior to the petition for temporary restraining order filed by the Albay Representative to stop the enforcement of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) provincial bus terminal ban along EDSA, “I already filed House Resolution No. 2542 to conduct an investigation, in aid of legislation, on the propriety of relocating the bus terminals to Valenzuela, Bulacan and Sta. Rosa, Laguna.”

The lawmaker added the move is a separate and independent resolution requesting for an investigation in the lower chamber on the basis of Regulation No. 19-002 issued by the MMDA March 26, 2019, banning the provincial buses in EDSA and revoking the business permits of bus terminals along EDSA.

“In fact, last May 20, the House Committee on Transportation already conducted a hearing to shed light on the issue. I raised the issue of necessity, beneficially and workability of the regulation. However, it turns out that the agency is not yet ready to implement the same,” Go added.

Go said an agreement to suspend the implementation of bus transfer was made and likewise urged MMDA to conduct further study on this.

“MMDA is also requested to submit certain documents to further prove the viability of this regulation,” Go adds.
