City of San Fernando crowns new little misses

THE City of San Fernando now has a new set of little ambassadresses, as it crowned Little Miss Fernandina 2019 winners on May 25 at SM City Pampanga.

Besting other 14 candidates, Fatimah Ahlecka Rain Lester Vargas of Barangay Sindalan led the roster of winners, with special awards including Ms. Beautederm and Ms. Little Helping Hand.

The little queen said she did a lot of preparations for the pageant.

"I really prepared for the pageant by not being sick. I also practiced my walk, my poses, and my talent. Now that I have the crown, I feel really good and I want to say 'thank you' to my family and Barangay Sindalan for supporting me," said Vargas.

One person proud of Vargas's victory is her mom, Annie Vargas, who said the idea of Fatimah joining the pageant was long overdue.

"Since she was younger, she already wanted to join. But at that time, we were really busy and this is the only time that she can have the chance to join. I said, 'let's go and let's try' this May," she said.

Also bringing pride to their villages and families were: Amanda Louise Miranda of Maimpis, who was named Little Miss Fernandina Tourism (first runner-up); Pauline Dein Nichollie Pascua of Sto. Niño, crowned as Little Miss Fernandina Environment (second runner-up); Jhanna Mae David of San Nicolas, named Little Miss Fernandina Health and Wellness (third runner-up); and Princess Janine Gozun of Quebiawan, the new Little Miss Fernandina Child Rights and Social Welfare (fourth runner-up).

The candidates were rated according to their beauty, personality and talent, with extra points on the pageant's segments such as the casual wear, costume, and summer wear competitions.

The candidates' wit and intelligence were also tested through questions that revolved around honesty, cooperation, and love.

Vargas, meanwhile, left a message to aspiring little beauty queens.

"I need to say that they should be confident, they should always be kind, and always be responsible in timing and everything," she said.

The winners are expected to grace several programs and projects of the city and might have the chance to represent the city in other contests, including Prinsesita Ning Sinukwan 2019.
