Speakers to tackle pressing issues in entrepreneurs, innovation summit

STAKEHOLDERS from different industries will come together to reinforce the ecosystem that supports enterprise development and increases innovation capabilities of micro, small, and medium enterprises in the upcoming Entrepreneurs’ Summit and Cebu Innovation Expo this June 2019.

Slated for June 12 to 14, 2019 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, policy makers, industry business sector representatives, academe, inventors or innovators and other business support institutions will gather together to share process opportunities and strategies for inclusive growth and sustainability of Cebu’s businesses.

The Entrepreneurs’ Summit and Cebu Innovation Expo are some of the highlights of the Cebu Business Month (CBM) 2019, the annual flagship project of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

Entrepreneurship chairperson and CCCI president Virgilio Espeleta said this event cuts across all size, stages and levels of business where entrepreneurs, investors and supporters convene.

The summit will feature a cluster of dynamic and influential speakers who will share firsthand their entrepreneurial journeys.

CCCI tapped Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato Dela Pena as keynote speaker for the upcoming expo.

Other speakers include Sandy Roque, head of BCA-enterprise, analytics and market research of PLDT Enterprise, who will talk on “Anticipating or Driving Disruptions with Data Analytics;” Fred Groen, analytics lead of Amazon Web Services, who will talk about “Anticipating Disruptions and Trends in the Market;” and Ed Sahagun, chief executive officer from Union Galvasteel, Philcement and Phinma Solar, who will speak about “Leapfrogging our Competitiveness Ranking.”

Moreover, CCCI invited Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez to talk about the “Ease of Doing Business: Government as Enablers” while Catherine Del Villar, assistant vice president for Energy Sales retail of Aboitiz Power Corp., will provide insights on “Retail Electricity: Reducing the Cost of Business.”

Christopher Monterola, professor and head at the School of Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship and executive managing director of ACCeSs@AIM, will talk about “The Talent gap: Building the Millennials for the Future;” Edsel Paglinawan, product and innovation head of Eastern Communication, on “Fire Innovation (4th Industrial Revolution); Fleire Castro, digital marketing consultant, on “Digital Marketing;” Muhammad Hussain Khalid, vice president/head of Marketplace, on “Online Selling:” Paulo Uy, director of Cebu Digital Outsourcing Solutions Inc., on “B2B-Inclusive Growth App Launch” and Virgilio Chua, managing director and co-head investment banking of SB Capital, on “Alternative Financing Options to spur SME growth.”

Simultaneously, the Cebu Innovation Expo 2019 will gather 136 exhibitors and stakeholders from the different sectors and industries.

There will also be a business matching session and Jobs Fair at the exhibit area,” said Karl De Pio, chairperson of the Cebu Innovation Expo.

The Cebu Innovation Expo 2019 is for companies seeking to “adopt, borrow or acquire” useful innovations or inventions.

The three-day expo will be on June 12 to 14, 2019 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
