Teenager shot dead in Bugo

A YOUNG man who is about to enter senior high school was gunned down by four assailants at Balite Street, Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City, past 12 midnight, Wednesday, May 29.

Police identified the victim as Mark Lloyd Capablanca, 19, a resident of Higaonon, Barangay Bugo.

Investigators said one of the suspects was identified as Edwin Dungog through the accounts of eyewitnesses and a footage of a security camera in a nearby establishment.

The victim sustained a lone but fatal gunshot wound in the head. He was rushed to the hospital but he did not get there alive.

Police captain Mario Mantala, police station 6 commander, said the victim and his two companions were talking on the street when the suspects arrived on board two motorcycles and shot the victim.

Mantala said the victim had no criminal records but investigators are looking into illegal drugs and personal grudge as possible motives of the incident.

He said one of the suspects was a drug personality in Barangay Bugo and involved in theft and robbery cases.

“Droga ang pinakaduol nga possible motive kay ang suspek gi-monitor nato nga drug personality sa Bugo ug involve sa mga kawat, paglabni diha unya amigo pud sila aning victim,” Mantala said.

Mantala said they are still determining the identities of the other three suspects while pursuit operation is going on.
