PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, May 30, took a short break before meeting with the Filipino community in Japan and went shopping with his long-time partner and youngest daughter in Tokyo.

Duterte visited Uniqlo and Apple stores in Japan to buy clothes and gadgets, photos from senator-elect Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go showed.

Duterte was seen shopping with his long-time partner, Honeylet Avanceña, and daughter, Veronica "Kitty" Duterte.

Go, who is part of Duterte's delegation, said the President bought a laptop for himself, an Apple watch for his daughter, and clothes for Avanceña.

"Binilhan nila si Kitty ng Apple watch. Si Madam Honeylet ay damit, at si PRRD ay laptop (They bought an Apple Watch for Kitty. While Madam Honeylet and Duterte bought clothes and laptop, respectively)," Go, Duterte's former special aide, said in a text message.

Duterte is currently in Japan to attend the 25th International Conference on the Future of Asia, which will be held in Tokyo on Friday, May 31.

On May 20, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the President merely laughed off rumors that he is seriously ill.

Panelo also maintained that the public need not to worry, as the President remains in good health.

"Let me assure the nation na if there is anything wrong with the President's health serious enough to be of our concern, he will tell us. And he said so himself many times over," Duterte's spokesperson said in a May 20 press conference. (SunStar Philippines)
