USC-Downtown Campus to host 3-day translation seminar-workshop

A FORUM on translation will be held at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Downtown Campus in Cebu City on June 3-5, 2019.

The event dubbed as “Translation For Publication” is organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, InOtherWords Inc. and the USC-Cebuano Studies Center.

It will be held at the downtown campus’s banquet and events section. On June 3, the forum will open at 8:30 a.m.

The speakers are seasoned academicians and creative writers who also dable in translations. They are Erlinda K. Alburo, Lamberto Ceballos, Ralph Semino Galan, John Iremil Teodoro and Hope Sabanpan-Yu.

Alburo will deliver her paper titled “Women and Their Words in Translation,” while Ceballos will tackle “21st Century Challenges in the Practice of Translation.”

For his part, Galan will deliver his paper titled “Contemporary Poetry in Translation.”

Teodoro and Yu will tackle “Translation for Promotion: Realigning Power Relations Between Philippine Languages” and “Elements of Subtitling,” respectively.
