MisOr development council approves expressway project

THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental welcomes the proposal for the establishment of expressway that would connect Villanueva to Naawan towns.

Dr. Josefino Bascug, officer-in-charge of the capitol’s Planning and Development Office (PPDO), said the project was proposed and will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Bascug said the 75 kilometers Villanueva-Naawan expressway is a major ticket infrastructure project of Governor Yevgeny Emano before he finishes his last term.

Emano has endorsed it at the Provincial Development Council last December 6.

Bascug said the governor supported the expressway project by way of endorsing the two Misamis Oriental Expressway sections.

The first section connects Villanueva to Opol (34 kilometers) while the second phase is the 41.90 kilometer Opol-Naawan expressway section.

Bascug said the first section got the nod of the Regional Development Council (RDC) last December 1 while section 2 was approved on May 27.

He said the PPDO provides for the socio-economic/ecological profiling with the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO).

“Pag naay expressway this is connectivity (there’s connectivity of the two towns if there will be an expressway),”Bascug said.

Bascug also said the local government units will facilitate road right of way issues.

The budget for the project has yet to be determined, including the funding for the feasibility study.
