116 inmates in Negros Occidental tested negative for drugs

A TOTAL of 116 inmates were tested negative during the random drug testing conducted in different jails in the province of Negros Occidental.

The tests were conducted and no drugs were seized nor detected during the greyhound operations where about 600 inmates were searched by joint operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Ageny Negros Occidental Provincial Office (PDEA-Nopo), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) in Negros Occidental.

The first inspection early this week was conducted by San Carlos PNP at San Carlos City Jail, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, where 44 out of 220 inmates were subjected to random drug testing.

On the same day, at around 12:00 noon, the same team with the Escalante PNP conducted search and seizure operation at the Escalante City Jail, located at Escalante City Negros Occidental.

Out of 50 inmates, 10 were picked at random to undergo the surprise drug tests.

By 2:25 p.m. the same day, the PDEA-Nopo and BJMP this time with the Sagay PNP conducted greyhound operation at Sagay City Jail, Barangay Rizal Sagay City, where 24 out of 119 inmates were subjected to the random drug testing.

Around 3 p.m. the same day, the same team with the Cadiz PNP conducted greyhound operation at Cadiz City Jail, Cabahug Street, Cadiz City, where 38 out of 189 were chosen in random undergo the surprise drug tests. (TDE)
