THE baggage x-ray machine at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (Dcott) will make the inspection of baggage faster, according to Dcott head Aisa Usop.
Usop said the baggage scanners and walk through machine have been fully operational since Thursday afternoon, May 30, 2019.
She said the office has long been requesting for these scanners, considering the larger volume of passenger influx in the terminal.
"Dugay na mi nagrequest nga mabutangan mi og baggage scanner diria sa Dcott (We have long been requesting for a baggage scanner to be put up here at Dcott)," Usop told Sunstar Davao, adding the Task Force Davao co-incidentally requested for baggage x-ray scanners in the checkpoint areas of Toril, Bunawan and Calinan.
However, she said that they would still conduct a manual inspection due to the increasing number of passengers in May alone.
Normally, she said, the average number of passengers on regular days would range from 30,000 to 40,000 passengers.
But based on her office's estimation, it is now ranging from 50,000 to 60,000 passengers per day.
In a previous report, Task Force Davao Commander Colonel Consolito Yecla said having baggage scanners in public places, including bus terminals, would make the inspection process of passengers faster, as they will no longer have to line up and undergo manual inspection.
Passengers and netizens also expressed their positive feedback with the terminal's development.
The baggage x-ray machine was also used during the Ironman race held in the city last March.
