JUNE seems to be a real expression of new beginnings for me. June is always termed as the wedding month. This was traditionally chosen as the wedding month or time because of the goddess Juno. She was known to be the one that protected women and children. Thus June was all set after her.
By protection, it also meant for Juan to marry it would be a way of protection already. Not being alone. So was the protection also of children since there will be a couple or partners to protect the children. A wedding was the joining of two. Mom was a June bride.
Childbirth and weddings are actually new beginnings. It was funny the first time I had mine. I wasn’t even there as Joy who was meeting me for lunch was rushed to the hospital. There were no cellphones then. I just waited and waited for her until some Juan had asked me if my wife was Joy. Only then did I realize what had happened.
It was really something I was not prepared for, our baby had to be out immediately and earlier than expected. Joy for the past week had pneumonia and wasn’t feeling well.
Upon getting there I was asked what the name for a boy was, no time to rejoice as I was told to buy milk and diaper. I bought one each. The nurse just had to laugh and asked me to buy many not one. I had prepared Johnson and Johnson Cloth Diapers which were not that convenient anymore. There were instant diapers already. Glad to have had a name ready, Reinaldo III.
Anyway, June will be the end of term for government, nothing new here, but I can’t wait for the new set to come in. New beginnings. Just like my story I hope and pray that the diaper story of mine won’t happen. There’s a saying that “politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed, because they’re so full of shit”, oh my, that includes me.
Back to the diaper, problems aplenty in the city must not be fixed with diaper solutions, meaning there is no easy way out or just temporary. It must be thought of and planned. No shortcuts or for convenience. But I’m still hopeful for a new beginning.
I too have my own new beginning. Starting June I will head the family business corporation NakTayNay Inc. This is the company that handles all the affairs of the Bautista, other than UB. Business ventures, Real Estate, Acquisition, Canteens, Food Courts, Uniforms, Parking and even Trade Fairs or Tiangges. I’m excited, knowing too that a new building is under construction, there will come some new beginnings again for me.
I was actually elected last April however I will officially sit this June. Same time last year I was also elected as president of Diamond Bank on May then began as a banker on June too. After almost 10 years I will be back as father of Baguio Boy Scouting again and start this June. I will have to sit with the Girls Scouts again. Who would not like new beginnings? I’m back as SunStar Publisher, just so Juan knows.
I have really come to the conclusion of things. A test I had made of where I will be. Seemingly, it is clearer now as to where I will really be. While it is also said that Juno is the protector of women, I would also say that the thought should also be the same with men. Because having a partner regardless of gender conveniently assures protection. Man or Woman, Man and Man, Woman and Woman.
It is also Juno who protects children and again regardless of gender we are all her children. Thus we are all assured of her protection. And new beginnings how challenging them may seem will all be assured of some protection.
I will soon be Ninong to quite a few weddings once more. Thanks Juno for June and NEW BEGINNINGS.
