Police nab 6 drug personalities

SIX drug personalities were collared by authorities in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Cordillera.

The Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera said three were arrested after they were caught during a pot session in Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet in the evening of May 29.

Collared were Christian Paicot Beneyat, 22, a vegetable trader and native of Mountain Province; Stepfen Oracion Lorenzo, 22, carrot washer; and Melgar Toda Saltin, 26, farmer.

Seized were one small plastic sachet with a residue of a substance believed to be shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and one mobile phone.

In another operation, Chester Bayacsan Kiblasen, 29, farmer and a resident of Poblacion, Buguias, Benguet, was arrested Wednesday evening, May 29, in Baculongan Sur, Buguias, Benguet after selling shabu to an agent who posed as a buyer.

Seized from his possession were P2,000 boodle money, P1,000 cash, and a cellphone.

On May 28, anti-narcotics agent collared Ramon Carino, 38, of Poblacion, Tayum, Abra, and Angelo Vinluan, 20, of Barangay Engineers Hill, Baguio City.

A cigarette pack containing a plastic sachet of shabu was seized from Carino, while marijuana leaves wrapped in a transparent plastic was confiscated from Vinluan.

All suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PRO Cordillera Director Israel Ephraim Dickson said the continuous apprehension of drug pushers serves as a stern warning for all other persons involved in illegal drugs that the police will not cease in their relentless campaign to rid Cordillera of the dreaded drug menace.
