A POLICEMAN assigned with Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) was killed in a gun attack by motorcycle-riding assailants in Zamboanga City, an official said Saturday, June 1.
Police Colonel Joseph Thomas Martir, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, said the incident happened at 5:35 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Tumaga.
Martir identified the victim as Police Corporal Edgar Gaganting, who is presently assigned with the DEU of Police Station 4 of the ZCPO.
Gaganting was rushed but did not make it alive to the hospital.
Martir said investigation showed Gaganting was driving a motorcycle when shot by one of two men riding on another motorcycle that tailed the victim.
He said investigation continues in a bid to establish the identities of the suspects behind the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
