No water in 59 schools in Cebu City

MORE than 50 schools under the Department of Education (DepEd) 7 Cebu City Schools Division are facing water supply problems, according to the agency’s report to the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD).

Charmaine Rodriguez-Kara, MCWD spokesperson, said they received a letter from the DepEd 7 on May 27, 2019, informing them of the situation.

However, Kara said based on their assessment, some of these schools may already have their water supply back considering that the Jaclupan Water Facility can already supply 24,000 cubic meters per day.

It was found out that most of the schools mentioned by the education agency are located in barangays where the supply of water is also a problem.

Temporary measures

Kara noted that these schools mentioned by DepEd may have encountered the problem during weeklong the Brigada Eskwela activity from May 27 to 31 or a week prior to it.

For now, the MCWD has identified 10 schools that they will be supplying water.

Starting Friday, May 31, until Monday, June 3, 2019, water supply trucks from MCWD will be distributing water to the Camputhaw Elementary School, Basak Community Elementary School, Basak Community National High School, Don Vicente Rama Memorial Elementary School, Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School, Pardo Elementary School, Pardo Extension Elementary School, Pardo National High School, Mambaling Elementary School and Mambaling National High School.

Kara also added if schools have a storage facility, MCWD can deliver water to them. from HBL of SuperBalita Cebu
