Police nab 2 suspects for firearms, drugs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Elements of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) arrested two suspects for possession of illegal drugs and firearms in violation of the Omnibus Election Code.

PMFC commander Police Lieutenant Colonel John Clark said they arrested Jheric Mendoza and Allan Dimarucot, both residents of Magalang, during a checkpoint operation in Barangay San Isidro in the same town over the weekend.

Police reports said the PMFC officers saw the motorcycle of the two suspects, riding in tandem, in obvious violation of the "no helmet policy."

The suspects allegedly disregarded the checkpoint, resulting in a short chase. The PMFC personnel saw in plain view a caliber .45 pistol tucked under the waist of the driver.

The two were then caught by the responding officers in Barangay Sta. Lucia.

Confiscated from the suspects were one caliber .45 pistol with seven live ammunition, two pieces of heat-sealed small plastic sachets containing substance believed to be shabu, one hand grenade, and a Yamaha MIO motorcycle with no license plate.

The arrested persons and all confiscated pieces of evidence were taken to Magalang Police Station for documentation and disposition. Appropriate charges are being prepared against the suspects.
