TWO significant events happened in Marco Polo Plaza Cebu.

The Philippines-Australia Friendship Day was hosted by the bubbly Ambassador of Australia, His Excellency Steven J. and wife Rhoda Robinson. The Ambassador traced the long running historical and cultural ties of the Philippines and Australia, and cited the two nations’ mutual assistance projects in education and community development. We can also remember how Australia extended help to our calamity survivors.

The Singing Ambassador brought the house down when he sang “Moon River” with guest performer Pilita Corrales. He owned the stage. I wish he did an encore of “Waltzing Matilda.” I had several educational and cultural encounters with Australians, and learned so much about their lifestyle. Our media group also visited the place and the travelogue was enriching.

Earlier, Marco Polo presented the latest in Hai Shin Lou, like the new set of delicious dim sum, budget meals and special courses for breakfast, lunch and dinner at very affordable prices. Hai Shin Lou specializes in authentic Cantonese cuisines using local and imported ingredients, crafted by executive dim sum chef King Kwong Chan. Discover Hai Shin Lou at the ground level of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu.

On June 18 will be the annual Tourism Forum, a main feature of the Cebu Business Month, also to be held at Marco Polo.
