THE City Government of Bacolod is now studying the possible charges to be filed against the alleged doctor of physical therapy for making a derogatory statement against the people of Bacolod in social media last week.

Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the city council committee on tourism, said Monday, June 3, she will refer the case to the City Legal Office (CLO) because the alleged doctor mentioned some statements that are derogatory to the city and that will affect the city’s tourism promotion.

“ We are promoting Bacolod as a prefer destination for Meetings, Incentive, Travel Conventions and Exhibitions (Mice), a festival destination, but his pronouncement in his Facebook account are unfounded, no basis in fact and very damaging to the image of the city that we are working hard to build and maintained,” she said.

Last week, in a Facebook account Bacolod ActiveLife, Dr. Ron posted his video showing how he was really disappointed with the people of Bacolod including the city government employees, taxi drivers, health issues among others.

The said post went viral and many netizens expressed their anger on said video.

“When you issue irresponsible statements like that, you should be called out and I will certainly refer this to the CLO for appropriate action against this person,” Ang said.

She said there’s also a possibility that they will declare the said person ‘persona non-grata.’

“I’ve seen his video and I’ve found him arrogant. He does business here and he wants people to patronize his clinic so he should be good to the people of Bacolod,” she added.

Ang noted that Bacolod is also open for criticism, but there should be a basis in truth.

Ang will also ask the Permits and Licensing Division to check the business permit of Bacolod ActiveLife as well as the Office of the Building Official for building compliance.
