THE remains of a seven-year-old girl were found inside a sack late Sunday night, June 2, at Vm Purok Zone-1 Villamiranda, Barangay 6A, Victorias City.

Police have requested not to identify the victim, but they affirmed that she was also a resident of the said place.

Victorias City police deputy commander, Police Captain Joy Ellaga, said the victim’s remains were found by local residents inside a sack and placed among the garbage pile in a vacant lot.

The police and rescuers from the city’s disaster risk reduction management office immediately went on site and recovered the remains.

When cops interviewed several witnesses and the victim’s family, they discovered that she was last seen with the suspect identified as 37-year-old Mark Besa, who ordered her to buy cigarettes at a nearby store.

Ellaga said Besa was formerly a drug surrenderer, although they received information that he continued with the illicit activity.

She added that the suspect was arrested last week after he beat up his own wife, who had just given birth to their child.

Police Master Sergeant Hazel Dorado, head of Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) in Victorias City, said the girl is positive of laceration.

“She (victim) was raped,” Dorado said, adding that the girl sustained an injury on her neck probably due to mauling.

The suspect was arrested in Ajuy, Iloilo Monday afternoon, June 3.

Victorias City Mayor Francis Palanca, meanwhile, condemned the girl’s killing.
