Health office to check Zamboanga schools

THE Zamboanga City Health Office, in line with the opening of classes, will be carrying out health and sanitary inspections in local schools.

Dr. Dulce Miravite, city health office chief, said sanitary inspectors will be making rounds in schools to check in on sanitary conditions of schools, particularly canteens and ambulant vendors who will be serving food and food products to students.

The City Health is part of the Brigada Eskwela, and together with the Department of Education and other partners, conducts close inspection of sanitary permits, sanitary conditions, and other health needs of schools.

Miravite said that fumigations were carried out in schools as part of the preparation for school opening in line with the rise in dengue cases in this city.

In addition, Miravite wants teachers to help in disseminating crucial information about dengue to prevent further cases. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
