A FRUIT trader and a bar entertainer were arrested while some P72,500 worth of suspected “shabu” were seized in anti-drug operations in the cities of Zamboanga and Dipolog, the police said Tuesday, June 4.
Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Reynan Bernardo, 21, a fruit trader and Nof Paner Patangan, 22, a bar entertainer.
Galvez said Bernardo was arrested in a drug bust around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday in Sinunuc village, Zamboanga City.
She said also recovered from Bernardo’s possession were some P2,500 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets and P400 marked money.
Galvez said some P70,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in two big-sized and four small-sized heat-sealed plastic sachets were seized when Patangan was arrested in a drug bust operation around 4 a.m. on same day at Purok Kalambuan in Sta. Filomena village, Dipolog City.
Also seized from Patangan was P500 marked money, a shoulder bag and a cellular phone, she added.
The police officer said the suspects were detained while a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is set to be filed against them. (SunStar Philippines)
