Nalzaro: Alcover is like a crybaby

HOW do you deal with a person like defeated Councilor Pastor Alcover Jr. who keeps on ranting about the result of the elections? He has not gotten over it yet, has not accepted defeat, and he is unable to move on. He is like a mad dog that barks at everyone, even at his own shadow. He acts like a crybaby whose toys were stolen or, simply, he is kulang sa pansin (KSP).

Even during the campaign period, Alcover had already been attacking his colleague in the Barug PDP Laban Niña Mabatid, calling her a “soloist.” Meaning, Mabatid was campaigning on her own without bringing the group. Mabatid, the barangay captain of Mabolo and the president and chief executive officer of Pinoy Care, an international visa processing center, landed in the second slot. She and re-electionist councilor Raymund Garcia were the only survivors from the opposition that landed in the eight-slot councilor slate in the north district. It was a 6-2 result in favor of the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) stalwarts. Alcover, a reelectionist landed in the 13th slot. This means he was being “rejected” by the district’s voters because he has no remarkable achievement. Hinambog ra may kadaghan aning tawhana gud.

But Mabatid denied junking her colleagues. In fact, in her sample ballot, she included them in the line up. She also campaigned for them in her nightly pulong-pulongs, but admitted that she had to prioritize herself because she is relatively new.

When she organized a caravan for all habal-habal (motorcycle for hire) drivers in the mountain barangays, she asked the assistance of Alcover being well-versed in the place because he has a stronghold in Barangay Agsungot. She gave Alcover some P300,000 for the meals of those who participated in the caravan. But Alcover brought only pansit during the affair. Many can attest that Alcover has been asking money from the Mabatids, one of them is the mother of Niña, Nang Salud Ompoc, sister of the late radio commentator David Ompoc.

One of the proof that Niña also provided financial assistance to Alcover was the bank deposit slip dated Nov. 19, 2018 where Mabatid deposited P24,000 under Alcover’s account with the Bank of Philippines Island (BPI). Now, he would claim that he was junked by Niña. Maybe Alcover continued ranting because Niña had stopped giving him money during the campaign because he failed to deliver the lady’s request. He wanted more.

Why should he bear rancor against Mabatid when the elections are over? He should accept his defeat graciously. He should be gentleman enough to accept the reality in politics and just be a sport even to his opponents. Don’t blame anyone for your defeat, Mr. Alcover, because your defeat was your own doing. Why don’t you ask yourself? Nganong pilion man ka pag-usab sa mga tawo nga wala man kay nahimo.

Alcover included me in his rantings in the social media, calling me many names. I don’t know the reason behind it? That is why I called him a “mad dog” because he barks at anyone including the moon. Well, I don’t want to glorify his attacks on me. He is already a “has-been” politician that does not need and deserve my attention. I will not waste my space here and my air time in the broadcast media, except for this one, to glorify his attacks. I would just like to remind incoming Vice Mayor Mike Rama that if he will employ Alcover as his “mouthpiece.” Alcover is more of a liability than an asset.
