NLEX invests P150M to enhance services

THE North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation is beefing up services for its customers by investing over P150 million for the repair of roads and bridges in selected areas along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) areas.

Restoration and enhancement works are underway for the slope protection of Pinulot, Loakan, and Cui river bridges in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

These projects will help prevent structures from scouring and erosion, especially during rainy season, thus improving the safety of motorists and locals in the said areas.

This year’s pavement repair program on the 38-kilometer SCTEX is also ongoing and set to be completed by the second quarter of 2019.

The pavement repairs, which involve light patching works and asphalt overlays, cover both directions of the SCTEX from Tarlac to Tipo including the Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX).

The same program is also being done at the 40-lane kilometers of NLEX from Balintawak to Sta. Ines.

“These are part of our efforts to maintain and make our roads safe for all weather conditions, giving the public comfortable travel and helping facilitate efficient mobility of goods and services,” said NLEX Corporation president and general manager Luigi Bautista.

Last year, four camera-equipped emergency call boxes (ECB) were installed at Dinalupihan (Subic-bound), Porac (Subic-bound), Dolores (Tarlac-bound), and San Miguel (Tarlac-bound) to enhance communication between motorists and SCTEX personnel responsible for traffic monitoring and control.

Variable electronic message signs that provide useful and updated traffic information were also put up at Floridablanca (Subic-bound), Concepcion (Subic-bound), Porac (Tarlac-bound), and Bamban (Tarlac-bound) interchanges.

Reflective delineator posts and plates were mounted at the expressway to help motorists navigate the road safely during nighttime.

Since the NLEX-SCTEX Integration in 2016, the company has been modernizing and bringing all the world-class features of NLEX to SCTEX -- from smooth pavements to electronic toll collection and up-to-date traffic systems, including the brand of service that has friendly and courteous toll tellers and patrol crews.
