TEAM RTS, bannered by Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD) Red Eagles, grabbed two straight wins to improve its record to five wins and one loss in the Rockstar division of the ongoing Future Star League at RMC Petro Gazz Arena.

RTS routed 3BZ Emar, 66-48, Monday after thrashing Broadstreet, 65-30, Sunday.

RTS, coached by veterans Nestor Sorrosa and Roger Rabago, also crushed Cristo Rey, 58-34.

Coach Rabago said the team was not supposed to compete in the tournament due to the entry fee but somebody offered to sponsor the team’s participation.

“Nalipay mga bata kay gusto jud sila mudula (The players were happy that they could join),” he said, adding that the squad has a lot of new players.

Jr. NBA national camp qualifier Daniel John Quijada and Ian Cuajao, younger brother of Holy Child standout and Aean School Games gold medal performer Vince Petdeo Cuajao, who were named best players of past RTS games, led the charge for the team.

But Rabago downplayed an easy road to the finals.

He added, “Duna pamay mga elimination games den top four sa semis. Dili pud mi kasulti nga diretso nami nga magchampion kay kusog pud ang Ateneo nga dunay reinforcement gikan Precious (There are still elimination games left then there’s the top four semifinals. We can’t predict winning the championship considering that Ateneo is a strong team with a reinforcement from Precious International School of Davao).”

He was pertaining to Magis Knights, composed of 14 Ateneo de Davao University players and one from PISD. The Magis Knights posted its fourth win after whipping Broadstreet, 69-45, yesterday.

The eight-team division is also participated by Vegas, Basic Basketball and Mafs while the elite star category has six teams.

The league is organized by Basketball Avenue.
