SK in 7 barangays get P1M each

THE Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in seven Cebu City barangays will receive P1 million each to fund its projects and programs.

After the approval for the funding was deferred for one week, the City Council approved on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, SK Federation President Jessica Resch’s resolutions that grant P1 million each to the SKs in seven barangays.

Barangays Tejero, Bonbon, Toong, Sambag I, Kinasang-an, Punta Princesa and Babag will receive the aid that Mayor Tomas Osmeña promised the youth leaders during the campaign for the SK Federaton elections.

In his proposal, Tejero SK chairman Jonathan Marasigan plans to establish SKat-on Center #BAI, a project that will cost P585,800. The amount will cover the purchase of computers and other office supplies.

They also need P300,000 for their MagpaSiKat ta #BAI and another P114,200 for the purchase of 60 units of electric fans for their Brigada Eskwela ta #BAI project.

Bonbon SK chairman Joy Maternal plans to purchase sports equipment, a sound system set and other office supplies and equipment using the P1-million financial assistance.

Toong SK chairman Rudelito Ortiz plans to use the P1 million to buy office supplies and equipment and to fund the SK’s sports program.

Sambag I SK chairman Dianne Padillo has proposed to purchase supplies for their medical and dental mission, materials and other supplies for their first aid and fire prevention efforts and improve their barangay gym.

Kinasang-an SK chairman Terence Badayos plans to purchase lights and sound system, stage set, tents, computers and office supplies.

Punta Princesa SK chairman Joshua Sensontic also proposed to buy computer sets and other office supplies and equipment for their learning center.

Babag SK chairman Hannah Nicole Mabini will use the P1 million also to buy office supplies and materials to improve their office.

During the May 28 regular session, the Council deferred the approval of Resch’s resolutions because some councilors wanted to clarify the prices quoted in the proposals.

Resch earlier said the SKs in the barangays will have to submit their project proposals to be able to get the financial assistance.

Osmeña earlier promised the SK chairpersons that the City will fund their projects worth at least P1 million in exchange for their support in electing a federation president who will support his administration. (RVC)
