AS A result of the intensified campaign against illegal drugs, three out of the 21 villages in Bacolor town were certified as drug-cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Program.

Police Major Louie Gonzaga, town's chief of police, said barangays Cabambangan, Duat and Talba were declared drug-cleared after they successfully complied with the parameters set forth by the oversight committee in accordance with the Dangerous Drugs Board resolution.

Gonzaga said Barangay Mesalipit is considered unaffected of illegal drug proliferation, while five villages, namely, Balas, Dolores, Potrero, San Antonio and Sta. Inez are only awaiting official certification.

Barangays Concepcion and Parulog are set to submit documents for drug clearing, while the local police are working double time to cleanse the 10 remaining villages from the proliferation of illegal drugs, Gonzaga added.

Gonzaga assured residents of Bacolor that the local police are intensifying their programs in line with the war on illegal drugs, which is the main agenda of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.

“We would like to assure everyone we shall be relentless on our campaign against personalities involved in this illicit trade, no let up,” he said.

He also urged residents to coordinate with the local police in identifying possible illegal drug pushers and users, as well other suspected criminal personalities for proper apprehension, and maintain the peace and order in town.

“Let us be united in ensuring that Bacolor will be a safe place to live, work, study and do business in, free from the ill effects of illegal drugs, which we all know pave way for the commission of other crimes,” Gonzaga said.
