'Pusher' nabbed, P43,000 shabu seized

A SUSPECTED big-time drug personality was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Wednesday, June 5.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Rasmar Tuazon Kasim, of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Galvez said Kasim was nabbed in a law enforcement operation around 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, in Purok Neptune, Barangay Bangkerohan, Ipil.

Confiscated from Kasim were five grams of substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in a large, heat-sealed plastic sachet with an estimated street value of P43,000, and other illegal drug paraphernalia.

Galvez said the law enforcement operation was carried out following surveillance on the suspect.

A case for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being prepared for filing against Kasim, who was detained, added Galvez. (SunStar Philippines)
