ON ITS eight year, Art Attack, an annual group art exhibit which showcases the artworks of Mindanawon creatives and the talents of the local art community, pays homage to the island’s indigenous tribe and culture.
Davao Graphic Designers Community (DGDC), one of the fastest growing community of creatives who shares same interest in the field of Graphic Design and Art, celebrates this year’s attack with the theme “Mindanao Indigenous Tribes and Culture”.
This year, Art Attack staged its exhibit at Frog Kaffee in Torres St.
Musical performances from Davao’s rising talents, namely Anne Mendoza, Thea Pitogo (of the band THEA), and Chud Festejo, were also witnessed during the night.
Aside from that, local artists shared their skills through a live art and animation demonstration, which wowed the crowd.
Merchandises such as posters, stickers and other items, made by the creative Davao artists were also available during the night.
Also, the creative juices and stocked knowledge on Mindanao’s music, arts and travel were also put to the test during the Trivia Game, which made the night a jam-packed one.
Beatriz Tulio, DGDC marketing consultant and this year’s Art Attack host, thanked everyone who came to the even despite the heavy rains.
Tulio shared that a father approached her with his 12-year-old son asking about DGDC’s future events.
“The kid wanted to pursue animation and was already toying with tools to make his drawings move around. The father proudly showed me his kid’s rough animations,” she said.
She also shared that earlier in the event, she saw the kid approach one of animators who did a demo and had an intense discussion while the asked for tips.
Tulio hopes everyone’s presence in DGDC’s next event, DesignSouth, happening few months from now.
