SEEING the need for a healthy mix of socialized and economic housing, property developer J. Nitton Development Corp. (JNDC) broke ground on its new project, Esperanza Homes, in Bogo City.

Haydee King, president of JNDC, told SunStar Cebu that Esperanza Bogo will rise in a 2.4 hectare property. Thirty-five percent of the area will be allotted for socialized housing while 65 percent will be for economic housing.

“There will be a total of 337 units, of which 120 units are for socialized housing,” she said.

Because of the location in Barangay Dakit, King said they opted for more economic housing than socialized but she assured it would still be of good quality for families to live in.

“The area is robust,” said King, noting that the location of the property is near schools like the Dakit National High School, Dakit Elementary School and Verallo College.

The project is also near the main thoroughfare going to the town of Tabogon, which is home to some of Cebu’s undiscovered diving spots.

The northern city of Bogo is home to almost 80,000 residents. The city was one of those hard-hit areas during supertyphoon Yolanda in 2013.

King said they wanted to help the community even after six years through offering socialized housing.

“Ever since before, we tried to see that their needs will be met at that time; to offer them decent houses which are dignified and affordable. It’s fully finished, fully painted, fully tiled and with partitions for two rooms,” she said.

A socialized housing unit is priced at P450,000 while prices for economic housing range from P450,000 to P1.7 million.

“We’re expecting that like in our Esperanza Carcar, this property’s takeout will be fast,” she said.

The four-hectare Esperanza Carcar is composed of 640 units, with 80 percent allotted for socialized housing.

Construction for Esperanza Bogo will start in a few months and the company will start selling on the last quarter of 2019.

The project is expected to be finished by early 2021. (JOB)
