5-day medical mission set in Tacloban

ST. MARK Coptic Orthodox Foundation (SMCOF) is set to hold a five-day medical camp from June 15-19 in Tacloban City.

Doctors specializing in skin, ear nose, and throat diseases, dental and internal medicine will participate during the medical mission.

Free medicines will be distributed to patients, said SMCOF project director Mina Ghabriel in a press statement.

Four doctors from Egypt and Canada and other volunteer local doctors will take part in the medical mission, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the foundation’s office on 196 Avenida Veteranos St., Barangay 23-A (in front of DES Marketing), said Henry James Roca of the City Information office.

Patients are advised to register on June 8 to 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m at the SMCOF office or send an email to stmarktac@gmail.com stating the name of the patient, contact details and their ailments/medical condition.

Patients can also call or text the following numbers to reserve a slot for the medical camp: 0949-941-17303 (Smart) and 0995-366-9155.

Those who registered will be notified of their schedule through text, said Roca.

The medical mission will be held in coordination with the Tacloban City Government through Mayor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez.

On June 18, the group is scheduled to hold the same medical mission at the Kawayan District Health Center.

Since 2010, SMCOF has served children and orphans in needs in the Philippines.

A nonprofit company registered in the country, SMCOF also brought medical missions to the city after devastation from the 2013 Super Typhoon Yolanda. (SunStar Philippines)
