AUTHORITIES are still investigating whether there are lapses in the motorcycle training procedure that might have caused the accident of the late Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) Director Nelson Aganon.
But Police Regional Office (PRO) Northern Mindanao spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Surki Sereñas said the motorcycle riding course is not to be blamed in the passing of the city's top cop.
Aganon died on Tuesday, June 4, after he was confined at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to severe head injuries he sustained during the motorcycle training last May 22.
Sereñas said should there be lapses found in the training procedure, it has to be corrected.
"This is not isolated. There have been other training accident before. The training is not to be blamed," he said.
He also said the motorcycle riding course would still be continued if the incident is found to be plain accident.
"We will know after the result of the investigation. Should it be found later that the incident was plain accident and not due to negligence, the training could possibly push through," he added.
On Thursday, June 6, the remains of Aganon were brought to the main headquarters of Cocpo in Barangay 40 for a last viewing for friends and colleagues, since it will be immediately transported to Nueva Ecija for his interment.
Mayor Oscar Moreno, along with other city officials, arrived late afternoon and gave a plaque of recognition as a token of gratitude and honor to Aganon.
The plaque was received by Aganon's wife, Reena Aganon, who also received from Moreno financial assistance worth P400,000.
