SUNSTAR Superbalita Davao's very own Rhona Goc-ong-Villariasa was one of the recipients of the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) Centennial Journalism Awards.

Villariasa was awarded as Regional Female Reporter of the Year in the print category on Thursday, June 6, at New World Makati Hotel.

The Journalism Awards recognizes media personalities who continuously serve as an inspiration for many a journalist to make the tri-media a medium to discuss issues of national significance.

Villariasa thanked the RCM for recognizing her contribution in the industry.

"I never dreamed of getting an award with what I do," she said on her Facebook post.

Villariasa, who has been in the industry for more than 10 years, admitted that she never intended to become a media practitioner in the first place.

"'Coz for me just do ur job and if you will be recognize plus points na un [sic]," she said.

She also congratulated her fellow Mindanawon recipients Carmelito Francisco of Mindanao Times, Gem Avanceña of TV5, Jun Digamon of Brigada News FM Davao, and RMN Davao.

The awarding coincides with the organization's centennial celebration.
