THE celebration of first Halandumon Festival in Bacolod City has been moved to June 16 instead of June 17.

Councilor-elect Israel Salanga, chairman of Halandumon street dance and arena dance competition, said Thursday, June 6, they decided to move the festival celebration because June 16 will fall on Sunday.

“Since it will fall on Sunday so we expect more revelers to join in our festival,” he said.

He added the street dance and arena competition will be participated by 15 barangays featuring their own festival.

Salanga noted the street dance competition will start at 2 p.m. from the Market Place going to the Bacolod Government Center Fountain Area and will end at the BGC Football Field for dance arena competition.

The champion will receive P50,000; P30,000 and P20,000 for first and second runners up, respectively. Other special awards include Best in Costume, Best in Concept, Best In Choreography, Best in Music among others.

The 1st Halanduman Festival is part of the nine-day “ Mga Adlaw Sang Paghanduraw” celebration from June 12 to 20, the city’s yearly commemoration of history, art and culture as provided in City Ordinance No. 616. (MAP)
