ROLLER Star, Davao’s first indoor skating rink, is the newest family and barkada bonding place where you can break a sweat, socialize and enjoy authentic Korean food all in one roof.

The skating rink is situated at Lanang Business Park, the fully air-conditioned 2,000 square-meter complex can comfortably accommodate up to 150 skaters.

One Friday night, I brought my daughters and nieces to experience Roller Star. At only P250 per person, the fee includes the use of roller skates (the wheels light up when they move!) and safety gears such as helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, and hand protectors for 70 minutes.

Being first timers, the kids initially had quite a challenge finding their balance. However, after a few minor falls, slips and awkward glides, they were smiling from ear to ear, in no time, as they learned this exhilarating sport with the help of in-house skating instructors.

Achievement unlocked!

“We decided to open the first indoor roller skating as the new active adventure destination here in Davao City and Mindanao. Roller skating has a lot of health benefits. For instance, a person can burn up to 360 calories in one hour. That’s because roller skating uses heavier muscles which burns fat faster. Best of all, this fun activity doesn’t feel like a workout!” said Roller Star manager Jay Diaz.

“Although we only started our operations mid-May, we already have regular guests who keep on coming back to bring their family and friends. I guess that’s good feedback,” he added.

Adding more excitement to Roller Star is its non-stop party atmosphere with their resident DJ playing the latest hits and music videos on a gigantic screen. As the skaters go around the rink, multi-colored disco lights heighten the adrenaline rush.

Famished after all that action? Then, drop by Roller Star’s Food Court which serves the delectable Korean Bingsoo (snowflakes dessert with your choice of mango, chocolate, cheese and blueberry toppings) as well as other well-loved Korean dishes like Kimbap, Bibimbap, Teokbokki, Teok Ramen, Chickenkaseu, and Omelette Rice among others.

Just beside Roller Star is Noonsaram Korean Café touted to be the home of mouthwatering and affordable Korean dishes with branches in Davao and Tagum. It is now offering a special promotion of unlimited Samgyeopsal and Shabu-Shabu for only P345.

Happy feet. Happy tummy. Let the good times roll at Roller Star!
