7,493 vacancies await job seekers in Davao

A TOTAL of 7,493 job vacancies await Dabawenyo job seekers this Independence Day, June 12.

The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Davao region, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry in the region and the Davao City Public Employment Service Office, will be hosting another Kalayaan Job and Business Fair at the NCCC Mall Buhangin.

There will be 50 participating local employers with a total of 4,522 job vacancies, while 17 overseas employers will be allotting 2,971 job vacancies.

Customer service representatives are the most in demand for local employment, followed by laborers, brand merchandisers, technical support representatives, mechanical helpers, cashiers, mechanical equipment installers, baggers, counter checkers, mechanical erectors, service crew, production workers, and fitters.

For the overseas employment, cleaners are the most in demand, followed by staff nurses, cashiers, waiters/waitresses, furniture installers, personal trainers, juice makers, English teachers, pipe fitters, meat inspectors, visual merchandisers, and kitchen helpers.

Prior to the job fair, there will be a pre-registration and mini job fair from June 7 to 11.

Dole Davao region chief labor and employment officer Erlinda Mamitag said new graduates and the unemployed are encouraged to participate in the event as it would be “less costly on their part.”

Last year's job fair was able to hire around 700 applicants at the Davao City Recreational Center (Almendras Gym).

Dole - Davao City field office employment focal person Jovita Fontilla, meanwhile, said they are targeting more than 600 on-the-spot hiring in this year's job fair. (RGL)
