CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno said he entrusts the selection of a new city police director to the police regional director in Northern Mindanao.
Moreno said he has no personal choice for the post, and would rather have Police Brigadier General Rafael Santiago Jr. choose the best candidate.
“For me, what’s important is the choice of regional director. I don’t have a police official that’s my choice, what matters to me is he works good regardless of the name and where he come from,” he said.
“The regional director is in a much better position to assess because it’s his job,” Moreno added.
For the selection process, three names will be submitted by the police and the mayor selects among them. Moreno also admitted that these three police officials have already visited him.
“They introduced themselves. I don’t know if they are interested, but I’d like to believe Cagayan de Oro is a choice assignment, ganahan sila kay maayong lakaw, the teamwork and harmony is good in the regional, local governments, and the community as well,” he added. (PJ Orias)
