MABALACAT CITY -- The cities of General Santos in Mindanao and Mabalacat in Luzon are set to forge a sisterhood agreement.

This after GenSan City officials, headed by Mayor Ronnel Rivera and Vice Mayor Shyrlin Banas Nograles, completed a benchmarking on Pampanga component city’s best practices on local governance.

After thanking Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, Rivera said he is looking forward to signing a sisterhood agreement with this city which is expected to help create direct flights from Clark International Airport to General Santos and vice versa.

Garbo directed Vice Mayor-elect Gerald Aquino to expedite the sisterhood of the two cities.

He presented the nine pillars of his administration including health, peace and order, livelihood and employment, environmental protection, education, infrastructure, business development, among others.

The Mabalacat mayor also thanked the contingent for choosing the city in their campaign to improve local governance.

Garbo told the benchmarking delegation from Mindanao that “transitioning from the traditional way during his first term as mayor is never easy but with the passion and drive of the employees, Mabalacat City is now hailed as one of the most outstanding local government units in Central Luzon.”

He expressed hopes that the members of the GenSan team will adopt the good programs of the city.

The GenSan delegation, consisting of 26 barangay leaders, learned the effective way of implementing medical and social programs.
