Custodio: Sunburnt

Custodio: Sunburnt

AS IT is every summer, the goal is to hit the beach as many times as you can! Nothing like the cool seawater on your skin and the salty wind on your face right? Hmmm. It has been crazy “init” (hot) these past few months that the sun’s warmth actually scorches rather than soothes one’s skin, I would be sunbaking than sunbathing! But I had a dear friend visiting and she loves the beach so to the beach we go!

Last Friday’s weather was very pleasant. The sun was friendly (not too warm) and the waves were cooperative (calm). We came early so we were able to secure a good spot by the waterfront. Sweet!

We enjoyed so much that our breakfast swim ended at one in the afternoon! We truly appreciated how cool and unbelievably clear the water was that day. We spent so much time out in the water, swimming and just floating belly up, allowing ourselves to be gently lulled by the waves. I was content with just listening to the gentle underwater buzz, the sloshing of the waves against my ears and the sound of my breathing. It was so relaxing! Hehe. What a life, ei? I couldn’t be happier. It was pure bliss!

So after a glorious half day at the beach, we headed home and after two hours, we started feeling the effects of the glorious day. Sunburn!

So here it is.

Realization 1: Too much of a good thing is still too much so always be mindful of the things that you do. Know your limits and how much you can get away pushing your luck if you need to do so.

Realization 2: Always wear sunblock. Yeahhh have fun but make sure you got yourself covered! The same thing goes in life, always protect yourself.

Realization 3: Reapply sunblock if needed. Do not always assume all is good because sometimes things fall short of expectations. Your kickass sunblock won’t always work the way it does, believe me. Same goes in life so always recheck; better yet, always be ready with a Plan B!

We get burned from time to time and it might hurt; but it will heal. I am burnt and painfully sun-sensitive now but I still have a smile on my face! The memories and lessons will last more than the ache does, remember that. No matter what (un)expected “surprises” occur in our lives, we should always take each experience with good nature and with a grain of salt. (Or a good after sun soothing gel).

Happy Sunday Everyone! :)
