THE Davao City Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) issued Landslide Warning to the motorist passing the Diversion Road about the possible landslide that may occur in the area.

CDRRMO head Rodrigo Bustillo said in an interview that now that rainy season has begun, they are expecting landslides to occur along Diversion Road similar to what happened on Sunday, June 9, thus, they are cautioning the motorists.

A small portion of soil eroded along Diversion Road and occupied a lane yesterday. They already asked the owner of the area to cut down coconuts planted there.

He added that they already did the clearing operation to remove the soil. Though there have been mitigating measures in place, however, they are not discounting the possibility that another landslide incident will happen along the area.

After the incident, they put up warning signs to caution the motorist for possible ground movement.

Whenever there is a heavy downpour, he said that they usually do assessment in the affected area to ensure the safety of the residents.

Right now, they are closely monitoring several landslide-prone areas in Davao City especially in Guadalupe, Matina Crossing, Marilog and in the hinterlands of the city.
