THIS summer, find your inner artist by joining a summer workshop.

Kids At Art is now on its 18th year of teaching kids arts and craft nationwide. The group wants to create a “a community of children who will grow with a great love and interest for the arts and crafts, an aptitude for creative thinking, and an appreciation for cultures and traditions.”

To introduce children and parents to the Kids At Art program, the group will be holding a free promo workshop on March 6 and March 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the SM Events Center near Storyland in SM City Cebu.

Kids At Art was founded by professor Ma. Rita Badilla-Gudiño, who has been a teacher of the UP College of Fine Arts since 1993. She was a recipient of a full-scholarship from Product Development and Design Center Philippines.

Badilla-Gudiño served as a consultant to “Art Jam, the children’s TV program of ABS-CBN Foundation that won a KBP Golden Dove Award.

Kids At Art teachers are creative, organized, meticulous and resourceful individuals who have a passion for life and art and love working with children. Head teachers are Fine Arts, Education, Psychology and Design graduates from premiere universities or have been teaching with Kids At Art for several years.

Assistant teachers are either Fine Arts undergraduates or graduates of UP College of Fine Arts.

Kids At Art summer workshops cover courses on basic drawing, painting and crafts for children from five to 12 years old. It introduces the children to various art media and techniques. Each child’s stage of art is identified and evaluated in order for the teacher to know how to improve their drawing characteristics and skills in art making.

The workshop’s culminating activity is an exhibit and party in SM City Cebu. The event will be a family affair that will include games and prizes.
