NEGRENSE Charity Diva Token Lizares did a laudable musical concert for a cause last Saturday, June 8, at Saltimboca, 15th Lacson Street in Bacolod City in collaboration with her fellow local singers and with the special participation of Angel of Miss Tres, a transgender comedian who was part of the Miss Tres Filipino singing trio who were former contestants of the Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) and Asia’s Got Talent (AGT).
Token was with the Negros top singers Loise Arroyo, Lovejoy Garrido, Lucille Clavel Carmona, Menzie Malazarte, Grace Tanilon, Marylin Acot, Analyn Gayatin, Jing Trocio, Eva Marino, and James Javelona.
Token is known for her charity works since 1990 up to now, finding such act of charity as her assignment from the Lord. She was gifted with the talents of singing and acting and her secret to a fulfilling life is always anchored with the Lord.
Through her charity works, she was able to help numerous institutions such as the St. Vincent Home for the Aged and the Missionary of Charity founded by Mother Teresa.
Token said, “It was timely that the Lord blessed me with 58 years of being alive and with a heart who serves and helps the poor and needy children and adult alike. With the help of my fellow local singers and Angel of Miss Tres, the concert was successful where everybody was entertained that night.”
She said that using her voice and talent, she was able to help others more. All she got from her charity works was her fruitful relationship with the Lord who unceasingly provides for all her needs and the needs of the individuals who rely on her.
God has prepared her for a mission to help the poorm she added.
Token recalled that her mom Natividad Tia was also a Godly and charitable person. She said when she was still little, her mom would always ask her to bring this amount of money to her neighbor, to the sick and to those who need them. “Ako permi naga panghatag sang bulig sang Iloy ko. (I was always the runner of my mom who gives others food and money). It became her attitude too.
The Negrense said that her first work was in bank here in Bacolod and later transferred to Manila to another bank. But she became part of the Metropolitan Theatre where she was trained to organize entertainment shows. That led to her organizing a local show as the St. Vincent Home for the Aged needs help.
“So I gather all my women friends who helped me organize the show. I first asked Jose Marie Chan who is also a Negrense for the concert. I even rushed to him who was about to ride his private plane in a private hangar in Bacolod City. Without any second thoughts, Jose Marie Chan approved my request. Next artists who were very kind just like Jose Marie Chan were Willy Cruz and John Lesaca and they all helped me,” she shared.
She added that until her last breath, she will continue to serve the Lord by helping the needy and the poor.
It was part of her nature to go to hospitals to aid the poor, go to distressed places to help the poor, to the orphanage, home for the aged and even a channel of the rich people who even gave her week-old used coffins of a deceased family member who was cremated. These beautiful coffins were given to her and she gave it to poor people who has a member who died. That makes everyone happy despite the loss of a family member, she said.
She hopes and prays that God will continue to use her as His instrument to help the poor and the needy, she said.
