NCCA Gallery opens exhibition proposals for 2020

THE National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) led by its chairman National Artist Virgilio Almario and executive director Rico Pableo Jr. officially opens the Call for 2020 Gallery Exhibition Proposals in its aim to promote and develop the Filipino visual arts community.

NCCA has been catering the demand of the ever-growing contemporary art scene in the Philippines. With this, an exhibition space located at the lobby area of the NCCA building is granted to successful exhibit proposals. This is a joint initiative of the National Committee on Art Galleries (NCAG) under the Subcommission on Cultural Heritage, and the National Committee on Visual Arts (NCVA) under the Subcommission on the Arts. Through the gallery, both the NCAG and the NCVA aim to provide young and emerging artists a venue for exposure without curtailing creative expression and independent exploration. Likewise, established artists will have the opportunity to share their conceptual narratives to the public and encourage engagements in the arts.

The exhibition proposal is open to all Filipino citizens, groups or institutions based in the country. Offices within the Commission may submit also exhibition proposals as part of celebrations such as but not limited to: National Arts Month in February, Women’s Month in March; National Literature Month and Filipino Food Month in April; and National Heritage Month in May; Indigenous Peoples Month in October, and Library Information Services Month in November. The deadline for submission is on July 31, 2019 at 5 p.m.

The NCCA Gallery Secretariat shall pre-screen and review all exhibition proposals based on the completeness of documentary requirements and assess through a set of criteria which may include but not limited to its relevance to the NCCA Gallery’s thrust, objectivity and relation to events and exhibits in the art community. Applicants will be notified of the screening results through an official communication.

All proposals and inquiries must be submitted to the NCCA Gallery Secretariat: Cultural Heritage Section, Room 3B, Third Floor NCCA building, 633 General Luna Street, Intramuros 1002 Manila, Philippines. Guidelines and copy of the proposal forms may be downloaded from http://bit.ly/NCCAGallery2020.
