GMI to open, launch Siddhartha Theatre

GUANG Ming Institute of Performing Arts (GMI) is opening on Sunday, June 16, 2019.

The event will start at 9 a.m. with a grand launching of GMI’s Siddhartha Theatre.

The opening of the school is a symbol of the long-time benevolence of the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Foundation, which is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of its existence in Cebu City.

FGS, which is inside Chu Un Temple, has been reaching out to people through various activities, such as outreach programs and cultural events.

The foundation has started its mission in Cebu by supporting “Siddhartha the Musical,” one of the longest running musicals in the Philippines. The performances of “Siddhartha” were also staged in international venues.

In March 2019, founder Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s dream of creating a home for performing artists soared when GMI held its soft opening.

The masters, members of Buddha’s Light International Association, GMI staff and scholars joined in promoting the three acts of goodness: doing good deeds, speaking good words and thinking good thoughts.

To share the talents of the Bisaya artists, the cast of “Siddhartha the Musical” will put on a show in the evening of June 15. Catch various cultural shows and performances by GMI scholars and invited artists.

For more information, one can call GMI’s landline (032-254-8990) or send an e-mail (edu.gmicebu@gmail.com).
