SOME schools have started their classes while others have just ended.
Gearing up for the next school year is not just about owning new school items. It could also mean to excite one’s self for new learning adventures and to see to it that one is ready.
Genius Math and Smart Communications are inviting teachers and parents with their kids to a Singapore Math Seminar-Workshop on Friday, June 14, 2019 for preschool and on Saturday, June 15 for grades three, four, five and six.
Singapore math is known for its concrete pictorial and abstract approach. It aims to develop a deeper knowledge on numbers and math concepts.
A whole-day seminar workshop for the preschoolers on June 14 aims to present the logical progression of math topics for children, teach math principles through concrete representations and develop a good number sense, not just rote counting.
The methods would lay the best foundations for stronger math skills of the children, according to teacher and author Joanne Sison.
Sison, a Singapore math expert, is the resource speaker for the seminar-workshop’s second day on June 15.
The master class for third until sixth graders will focus on the different techniques in problem solving, which is one of the best strengths of the Singapore math teaching method.
The different techniques would help a student to become confident and persevere in solving problems even if the levels of difficulty go up.
For nearly two decades now, Sison has been giving teachers’ training using the Singapore math method and helping parents empower their children to excel in mathematics.
The registration fee for the seminar-workshop dates is set at P1,500. Still available for a group of four participants and parent-and-child attendees on June 15 are the 20 percent and 10 percent registration fee discounts, respectively.
The seminar-workshop will be held at the Smart Regional Office on Pope John Paul II Ave. in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
