WAY back in 1969, if my memory serves me right, hordes of hungry diners trooped to that semi-circular building along Colon St., Cebu City where sumptuous food scents wafted by. I was one of them!
Ding How Dimsum House was born, to which we give credit to Henry Uytengsu, the Grandfather of Dimsum in Cebu! So popular and unique were the food choices, that expansion just had to be the next move. In quick succession, rose sister diners Harbour City Dimsum House, Ding Qua Qua—and to cater to the millennial fast food crowd, Dimsum Break. With the emergence of high-end malls, dimsum was there too!
By now, Grandfather Henry had left, and in his stead, the third generation family members took charge. Marketing manager is now Steve Kokseng, Henry’s nephew, with Lorraine U. Calisang, Henry’s daughter as group-in-charge.
As 2019 rolls by, the Harbour City Group marks a stunning Golden anniversary, and we wish them many more years of distinctive taste!
Steamed Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, Siomai anyone?
