Freedom Day jobseekers reach to 1.5T

THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Northern Mindanao has registered more than 1,500 applicants during its Kalayaan Job Fair held at the Atrium of Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City, Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

According to Dole-Northern Mindanao Director Joffrey Suyao, the available job vacancies, which reached a total of 18,924, are for government, local and overseas for skilled, unskilled, formal and informal/technical jobs.

From the 18,924 job vacancies, 5,890 were for local employment from 62 participating private companies mostly from the service, construction and Business Process Outsourcing industries; 11,500 for overseas employment generated from the 22 Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) accredited recruitment agencies; and 1,534 job vacancies for government from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine National Police, and Office of the President.

Top local job vacancies, according to Mildred Dablio, Dole-Northern Mindanao information officer, were cleaners/janitors, construction workers, and call center officers.

Likewise, overseas jobs were mostly for skilled workers: cleaners, staff nurses, nurses, nurse assistants, midwives, nurses for ICU, janitors, restaurant workers, and baristas.

Most of the overseas manpower services job posts were in the Middle East countries such as Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, among others.

The Kalayaan Job Fair activity is part of the 121st Independence Day celebration on June 12 and was simultaneously undertaken by the 17 regions of Dole nationwide. The job fair was aimed to improve the employment situation of the country.

This year's Independence Day celebration is anchored on the theme: “Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan.”
