BATCH 2000 made a huge push for a playoff spot in Division 1 of the Don Bosco Cup 2019 after a convincing 79-58 win over Batch ‘98 on June 9, 2019, at the Don Bosco Arena of Don Bosco Technical College.
Former University of Cebu Webmasters guard Kern Sesante once again led his pack with 20 points and four steals, beating the second ranked team in the division. Christian June Sumalpong also added 20 markers, while Chrissar Llegunas chipped in 15 points, four boards and four assists.
Vito Holasco led Batch ‘98 with 16 points, five rebounds, six dimes, three steals and a block.
Batch ‘98 just came of a 53-47 victory over Batch ‘96 the previous day led by Archibald Montecillo’s 23 points.
Batch 2000 moved up two spots at fifth place, while Batch 1998 still remained second along with Batch 1997.
In other Division 1 games, Batch ‘95 stunned a Dondon Hontiveros-less Batch ‘94, 59-56. Ryan Alforque led Batch ‘95 with 16 markers, two steals and a block.
Batch ‘97 solidified its grip in the third spot with a 78-42 crushing of Batch ‘91. Alvin Arpon had 14 points, three rebounds and a steal for Batch ‘97.
InGorious Batches outclassed Batch 2003/2004, 62-43. Philip dela Torre was the best player with 19 points, five rebounds and a block.
In Division 2, Batch 2008/2009, Batch 2006 and Batch 2018 all walked out with wins.
Batch 2008/2009 won against Batch 2007, 70-59 with John Velasco putting monster numbers of 28 points, 14 rebounds, a steal and a block.
Jose Acha had 26 points, 12 boards and three steals to steer Batch 2006 to a 56-46 win over Batch 2014.
Batch 2018, the youngest team, squeaked past Batch 2017, 69-66. Laurenz Abellana exploded for 27 points along with two steals and a block. (EKA)
