Central Luzon police join Freedom Day celebration

POURING rain did not dampen the spirit of personnel of the Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO-3) during the commemoration of the 121st Philippine Independence Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Camp Olivas here.

Themed “Kalayaan 2019: Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan,” PRO-3 Regional Director Brigadier General Joel Coronel led the commemoration rites which was highlighted by the releasing of doves to signify the country’s freedom.

During the said program, Philippine National Police Director General Oscar Albayade noted in a message the importance of the campaign against illegal drugs, criminality, corruption and the upholding of human rights which will be the keys to a truly free country.

“Ipakita natin ang tunay na puso ng pulis – ang pusong may malasakit at handang mag-alay ng buhay para sa sambayanan, ang pusong magiting at matapang sa harap ng anumang hamon at panganib, at ang pusong may takot at paniwala sa Diyos at nag-aalab sa pagmamahal sa bayan,” Albayalde noted.

Coronel, for his part, called out anew for public support and cooperation in preventing untoward incidents and crime situations during such celebrations and on a daily basis.

“We are once again appealing to the public to report any suspicious persons, activities and unusual occurrences in the community to the nearest police station or through PRO3 hotline 09998838327/09176235700,” Coronel said.

Meanwhile, aside from the celebration in the region, Coronel also instructed all provincial and city police offices as well as the different city and municipal police stations to hold similar activities simultaneously. (With Ric Sapnu)
