Oro’s Wilson inter-school summer caging a success

THE 2019 Wilson Summer Inter-School Basketball Championships recently ended with much success in Cagayan de Oro with Pilgrim Christian College emerging as the inaugural champion in the tertiary level.

Played at the Nazareth gym in Cagayan de Oro City, the PCC Voyagers overpowered their Team B compatriots from Pilgrim for the crowning glory, even as the visiting Valencia Colleges Incorporated-VCI and the Lourdes College placed second runner-up and third runner-up, respectively.

Merry Child School edged out Xavier University for the title in 17-under division, relegating the once-vaunted Assumption Montessori School (AMS) and Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS) to third and fourth places.

The 15-under rivalry showed the triumph of the City High Tigers as they defeated the XU Junior Crusaders in the final.

Settling at third and fourth spots were the Corpus Christi Knights and the AMS Jaguars, respectively.

The Corpus Christi dribblers did better in the 12-under class as they prevailed over the AMS Jaguars in the final for the hard-earned jewel.

At third and fourth were the City Central School and Xavier University Grade School teams, respectively.

Adjudged as most valuable players were Corpus Christi’s Charles Edward Olango in 12-under level and City High’s Mark Ervin Tagocon in 15-under level.

“The sponsoring Wilson gave the cash prizes, the medals and the trophies. For the sake sa development sa mga bata, kami na ang nidiskarte sa operational expenses para mahimong successful ang debut sa Wilson Inter-School hoopfest sa atong siyudad,” tournament commissioner Raul Fuentes Jr. told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
