A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy died while his 11-year-old companion was hospitalized after drowning in Sitio Luyang, Barangay Guiljungan, Cauayan on June 11.
The victims, seven years old, and 11 years old, male minors, both residents of Barangay Mambugsay, Cauaya,n Negros Occidental.
Based on the report of the Cauayan PNP, the two victims brought their carabao to a nearby river where they decided to swim. A passerby saw the victims drowning and rescued them. The victims were immediately brought to Cauayan District Hospital for medical treatment but the seven-year-old victim did not make it alive while the 11-year-old victim was referred to Bacolod City Hospital for further medical treatment.
Meanwhile, a farmer died in a shooting incident at Sitio Minauyahan, Barangay Minautok, Calatrava on June 11.
The victim was identified as Jose Balopenos, 70 years old of the said barangay while the suspects were identified as Leonardo Pahayahay, alias Dodoy Pahayahay; Rebenoy Pahayahay, alias Kanoy, both of Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Alias Gaga Jimeno of Barangay Bago, Don Salvador Benedicto and two unidentified male persons.
Based on the report of the Calatrava PNP while the victim was cultivating his farmland, the suspects armed with short and long firearms surrounded the victim and shot him several times in different parts of his body causing his sudden death.
The suspects fled towards Barangay Minapasuk, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
The victim was examined and pronounced dead by Dr. Karl Gabriel Bonifacio, Calatrava Municipal Health officer. Recovered from the crime scene were 20 .45 caliber fired cartridges, one 9MM caliber fired cartridge and seven .45 caliber bullets. (TDE)
