A TOTAL of 437 units of various firearms owned by the Cebu City Government will be donated to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

During the regular session on June 11, 2019 the City Council authorized Mayor Tomas Osmeña to sign the deed of donation and acceptance for the various firearms owned by the City Government to CCPO.

In his approved resolution, Councilor Dave Tumulak said the move will help the police force to be fully equipped with the needed weapons they can use for their duties.

At present, the firearms are under the custody of the police after these were turned over to the agency for the renewal of licenses.

Department of General Services (DGS) chief Ronald Malacora said the firearms were recalled in 2016 for the renewal of licenses. But due to to stricter rules in the renewal of the licenses, the City has planned already to donate the firearms to the police. (RVC)
