City vet runs out of anti-rabies vaccines

THE Office of the City Veterinarian (OCVet) has temporarily deferred its scheduled rabies vaccination drives in the villages of Zamboanga City as it replenishes its supply of rabies vaccines.

Dr. Mario Arriola, OCVet chief, said the supply of rabies shots of his office was fully consumed within the first quarter of this year.

“Unfortunately, we only managed to tackle our Oplan Alis Rabies for the first quarter because we ran out of supplies,” Arriola said.

He said they received doses of rabies vaccine enough only for 2,000 dogs.

However, he added they are expecting the arrival of additional doses of the rabies vaccine from this city’s disaster fund.

This, Arriola said, will hopefully be delivered this month. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
